Keynote at Cyber in Occitanie

Our PI, Gregory, was invited to share the stage at the forthcoming CNRS’ GDR SI Summer School held in Font-Romeu (France), Cyber in Occitanie, with Cédric Lefebvre, head of AI and cybersecurity at Custocy, a French SME specialized in Network Detection and Response.

Their joint talk, entitled ML-based Network Intrusion Detection: What can be done in practice?, covers topics at the intersection of the Machine Learning and Intrusion Detection domains, summing up both state of the art, Gregory’s own research and Custocy’s R&D efforts. The talk focuses on the shortcomings of state of the art NIDS datasets, as well as, the lack of a proper evaluation methodology. It also explores efforts and solutions to overcome these issues.
